Virgin Voyages is heading farther north than ever before. In summer 2028, Valiant Lady will debut from Amsterdam for the cruise line’s first Scandinavia and Baltic season, with new itineraries spanning Northern Europe, the Norwegian fjords and a voyage beyond the Arctic Circle.
The season includes five itineraries, each featuring at least one maiden call for Virgin Voyages. The centerpiece is an 11-night Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords sailing that will take Valiant Lady above the Arctic Circle for a midnight sun celebration under 24-hour daylight.
Bookings for the new season open Aug. 13, 2026, along with a returning Summer Season Pass that combines four Northern Europe voyages back-to-back.
Amsterdam Becomes a New Virgin Voyages Homeport
Valiant Lady’s Northern Europe program begins with a 10-night repositioning cruise from Barcelona to Amsterdam departing July 9, 2028. The voyage calls at Casablanca, Lisbon, La Coruña and Cherbourg before arriving in Amsterdam.
Lisbon includes an overnight stay, giving Sailors additional time ashore before Valiant Lady turns north for its new Amsterdam-based season.
From Amsterdam, the ship will operate four distinct Northern Europe itineraries covering Scandinavian capitals, Baltic destinations, Norwegian fjords and the Arctic Circle. The season concludes Aug. 25, 2028.
Scandinavia Cruise Includes an Overnight in Stockholm
The first Amsterdam itinerary departs July 19 for a 12-night Scandinavia and Stockholm voyage. The sailing visits Oslo, Copenhagen, Gdańsk, Stockholm, Warnemünde for Berlin and Aarhus.
Stockholm receives an overnight stay, allowing guests to remain in the city through a second morning. Virgin Voyages says the itinerary covers five countries and six maiden ports.
Travelers interested in Berlin can reach the German capital from Warnemünde by a roughly two-hour train journey, according to Virgin Voyages.
Valiant Lady Heads Into the Norwegian Fjords
The next sailing shifts away from major cities for a seven-night Norwegian Fjords itinerary departing Amsterdam on July 31.
Valiant Lady will visit Molde, Nordfjordeid, Flåm and Bergen. Virgin Voyages is positioning this sailing around the landscapes and smaller ports of Norway rather than combining the fjords with Scandinavian capitals.
Molde provides views toward the Romsdal Alps and access to the Trollstigen road, while Bergen anchors the final part of the itinerary.
Late Nights in Copenhagen and Hamburg
Valiant Lady returns to a city-focused itinerary on Aug. 7 with a seven-night Scandinavia and Hamburg cruise from Amsterdam.
The voyage visits Oslo, Copenhagen and Hamburg, with extended time ashore in two destinations. Copenhagen is scheduled for a late stay until 11 p.m., while Hamburg remains in port until nearly midnight.
Those later departures give Sailors more evening time ashore rather than requiring everyone back onboard during the afternoon or early evening.
Virgin Voyages Will Cross the Arctic Circle
The most distinctive voyage of the season begins Aug. 14, 2028. Valiant Lady’s 11-night Arctic Circle and Norwegian Fjords itinerary will visit Bergen, Tromsø, Honningsvåg, Trondheim, Åndalsnes and Olden.
During the voyage, Valiant Lady will cross the Arctic Circle with an onboard ceremony and midnight sun deck party under 24-hour daylight.
Honningsvåg provides access to the North Cape, while the itinerary combines the Arctic experience with several Norwegian coastal and fjord destinations.
The Arctic Circle crossing marks a first for Virgin Voyages and takes the brand to 71 degrees north as it continues expanding beyond the Mediterranean, Caribbean, Alaska and West Coast destinations highlighted in the announcement.
Summer Season Pass Returns for All Four Northern Voyages
Travelers who want to remain aboard Valiant Lady throughout the Amsterdam-based portion of the season can book the returning Summer Season Pass. The pass combines all four Northern Europe voyages back-to-back.
The Summer Season Pass is priced at $24,999 per cabin and requires double occupancy and full payment at booking. Accommodations are in a Central Sea Terrace cabin for two Sailors.
Benefits include $15 per Sailor per night in onboard drink credit, a 60-day dining reservation window and early Shore Things access beginning 135 days before sailing through Sailor Services.
Each Sailor also receives one complimentary Shore Thing per voyage valued at up to $250, one complimentary Arctic Circle Discovery Activation, upgraded Work From Sea WiFi, wash-and-fold laundry service and one sea-day Thermal Suite spa pass per voyage.
Additional benefits include priority boarding, assistance with the back-to-back transitions, a private Champagne breakfast and reserved viewing area for the Arctic Circle crossing ceremony, plus a welcome reception and crew meet-and-greet.
Season Pass guests also receive a welcome package with a Scandinavia snack pack, exclusive Season Pass jacket, limited-edition collectible, city guide, water bottle, portable power bank and backpack.
Why the 2028 Season Stands Out
Virgin Voyages’ first Northern Europe season gives travelers several very different ways to experience the region aboard the same ship. One itinerary concentrates on Baltic and Scandinavian cities, another focuses almost entirely on Norwegian fjords, and the final sailing pushes beyond the Arctic Circle.
The combination of overnight and late-night stays also provides more time in several destinations, while the Summer Season Pass creates an option for travelers who want to combine the four Amsterdam-based voyages into one extended trip.
With bookings opening Aug. 13, 2026, the new deployment marks another geographic expansion for Virgin Voyages and gives Valiant Lady a dramatically different summer itinerary when she heads north in 2028.
