Norwegian Aura: New Dining, Spa and Family Features

Norwegian Cruise Line is giving travelers a closer look at what to expect aboard Norwegian Aura, the cruise line’s newest and largest ship to date. The Prima Plus Class ship will combine expanded wellness spaces, new dining concepts, redesigned favorites and a large family activity zone when it begins sailing in 2027.

For cruisers, the biggest changes are easy to spot. Norwegian Aura will feature what NCL describes as its most expansive Thermal Suite, the cruise line’s first specialty restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine and a completely reimagined complimentary dining venue called The Panorama Room. The ship will also introduce new ways for families to play while creating additional spaces for adults to relax.

A major new wellness experience

The Mandara Spa will span two decks and is designed around the restorative qualities of nature. At its center will be an expansive Thermal Suite with 15 wellness experiences, including 11 new offerings built around contrast therapy.

One of the standout features is the Sensory Rain Pool, described by NCL as the first of its kind at sea. The 360-degree experience progresses from calm water to tropical rainfall and eventually a simulated thunderstorm, including lightning effects and rolling thunder.

Other additions include a Blue Glow Suite, Foot Spa, Waterfall Experience, Snow Cave, Reflection Pool with panoramic ocean views, and guided hot and cold plunge experiences. Guests will also find a Salt Room, Meditation Lounge, Aromatic Steam Room, Finnish Sauna, Charcoal Sauna and Zen Lounge.

The spa will include 24 treatment rooms, a full-service salon, Skin Lab and expanded medi-spa services, including IV therapy, NAD+ injections and acupuncture. A fitness center with dedicated training studios and wellness programming will round out the wellness area.

Norwegian Aura adds its first dedicated Indian restaurant

Food will be another major part of the Norwegian Aura experience. NCL says the ship will offer 22 food and beverage options covering more than 10 distinct cuisines.

The most notable new restaurant is Tamara, NCL’s first specialty restaurant dedicated to Indian cuisine. The concept builds on the popularity of Indian dishes introduced at Indulge Food Hall and moves those flavors into a dedicated specialty dining setting.

Located on Deck 8, Tamara will feature an open-view kitchen with tandoor ovens and a design inspired by North Indian temples and courtyards. The menu will include dishes such as Short-Rib Dosa, Lamb Biryani and Green Papaya Salad.

Another new concept is The Panorama Room on Deck 6. This complimentary dining venue will use large LED displays, multi-channel audio, synchronized lighting and changing visuals to create different environments while guests eat. The experience can shift between landscapes, artwork and scenic settings throughout the day and evening.

Hudson’s, the ship’s signature main dining room with 270-degree ocean views, will also receive an elevated new design.

Popular restaurants return with new looks

NCL is not starting from scratch with the ship’s dining lineup. Several familiar venues will return, but many will be redesigned or repositioned to improve comfort, access and seating.

Le Bistro will feature a new design and uninterrupted ocean views, while Sukhothai will receive a refreshed look celebrating Thai culture and cuisine. Palomar and Onda by Scarpetta will be located on Deck 8 with expanded seating and new aesthetics.

Cagney’s Steakhouse will receive a sophisticated redesign, while Hasuki and Nama will return with new decor and a lighter color palette. Surfside Café will expand across both sides of the ship, and Indulge Food Hall will return with nine globally inspired stations, including Mexican favorites inspired by Los Lobos, a new Middle Eastern concept, Q Texas Smokehouse, Planterie and Nudls.

The Local Bar & Grill will also return as a complimentary dining option serving classic pub fare nearly all day.

Guests staying in The Haven will have a redesigned Haven Bar and Lounge and Haven Restaurant. The spaces are being designed as a tranquil oasis with earth tones, a lush canopy of trees and natural-inspired details.

More room to relax and socialize

Norwegian Aura’s public spaces will receive widespread updates as well. The Penrose Bar & Atrium will be larger, with more than double the seating and a dedicated stage for daily entertainment.

Other redesigned spaces include Metropolitan Bar, Swirl Wine Bar, Belvedere Bar and Whiskey Bar. Daybreak Bar, located overlooking the pool on Deck 18, will add another place to relax while staying close to the action.

The goal throughout these spaces is to create more room for guests to gather, socialize and move between experiences.

Ocean Heights brings family fun aboard

Families will have their own major attraction in Ocean Heights, a large activity zone designed to combine new attractions with reimagined favorites. The space will transition from day to night with immersive lighting and LED projections.

Adventure-focused attractions include six slides, the 82-foot Aura Ropes Course, a multi-level obstacle course, Moon Climber and Aura Midway with carnival-style games and a nine-hole mini golf course.

For travelers looking for a quieter experience, Norwegian Aura will also feature NCL’s first overhanging cabanas overlooking Vibe Beach Club, along with a dedicated bar.

When Norwegian Aura will begin sailing

Norwegian Aura is scheduled to make its debut in Europe with a seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Trieste, Italy, to Barcelona, Spain, departing May 21, 2027. That voyage will be followed by a 13-day transatlantic sailing to Miami.

During summer 2027 and summer 2028, the ship will operate seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruises calling at Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic, St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Tortola in the British Virgin Islands and Great Stirrup Cay in the Bahamas.

For winter 2027/28, Norwegian Aura will shift to week-long Western Caribbean cruises visiting Roatan in Honduras, Costa Maya and Cozumel in Mexico, and Harvest Caye off the Belizean coast.

With its combination of expanded wellness facilities, new dining choices, redesigned public spaces and a substantial family activity area, Norwegian Aura is shaping up to offer a broader mix of experiences within NCL’s newest ship design. Travelers will have plenty of ways to build a cruise around relaxation, dining, entertainment or family time without having to choose just one.
